To quote that guy in that movie with that other guy and a fish girl, “What a week I’m having!” HA! In my case though, my week is actually going really well compared to this guy. Hey I’ll give you a Yankee dime if you can guess what movie I’m talking about. *wink, wink*
What’s on the nightstand already! Okay there’s no reason to yell. I know, I know it’s been a while since I blogged so stop giving me the stink eye. Vacation with the family in Laurel last week was so jam-packed I decided to let the blog ride until we returned home. But I’m back now and boy did I have some reading fun while we were gone! Six, count ‘em six, books finished in one week toward my goal of 100 per year. I think six is actually a personal record for me. We water parked, VBS’d, ATV’d, visited with friends, played and swam ourselves silly everyday then collapsed every night. It. Was. Awesome!
I hope y'all are enjoying your summer as much as we are. In the next few weeks we have so many fun things coming up my blog fodder folder will be full for a while. LOL! On Saturday we leave for another two weeks of beach and family visiting which will include a trip to the highly anticipated book launch of BONES OF A FEATHER for my writer bud CAROLYN HAINES in Natchez, MS on 6-25-11. VERY EXCITED!! LSW is making the trip with me so the drive is going to be jam packed with laughs and manuscript ideas.
Now because there are so many books on this nightstand post I’ll shut up and get to the books.
Till then,
Katie
MARKED, BETRAYED, CHOSEN, UNTAMED, HUNTED, TEMPTED, BURNED and AWAKENED
All these titles are by P.C. and Kristen Cast
These are part of the House of Night series. Zoey Redbird and the gang are exellent characters and I enjoyed each book quite a bit. I’ve completed all the available books so far and anticipate the next book this fall. Of the huge cast, Aphrodite has taken me over with her constant dose of snarky funny. If you enjoy paranormal romance, this is a great vampire series to dive into. (pictured left, P.C. and Kristen Cast) For more information on their work, visit their website. http://www.pccast.net/
SHADOWLAND by Alyson Noël
This is the third installment of Alyson’s Immortal’s series. They are all listed on a previous blog but I haven’t had much luck acquiring them. They are in high demand at Hernando Public Library LOL! This series is another really good paranormal romance. No vamps though. For more info visit Alyson's website. http://www.alysonnoel.com/
ROT AND RUIN by Jonathan Maberry
This is an excellent zombie read! I loved the characters and the story. I’m greatly anticipating the next book from Jonathan with these characters. For more information on Jonathan's work visit his website. http://jonathanmaberry.com/
A GREAT AND TERRIBLE BEAUTY, REBEL ANGELS and THE FAR SWEET THING
All three titles by LIbba Bray.
How much do I love thee Libba Bray??? I’d lose count if I tried to count the ways. All three of these books I read in one weekend and cried when I finished. They are that good! Once you see them in person you’ll understand what an accomplishment that was. They are HUGE! This was a new thing for me since the setting is post war England at a finishing school for young girls. WONDERFUL READS all around!! I can't begin to imagine the amount of research that went into this books. Check out Libba’s newest title BEAUTY QUEENS in stores now, follow her on twitter @LibbaBray or see her upcoming info on her website. http://www.libbabray.com/
Anita is back and kicking some serious butt. It was good to see her return to her hard-core roots in this 20th Anita Blake book. She’s a different Anita now because she’s in love so she’s got a blossoming soft edge to the character that I’ve always enjoyed in Laurell’s writing. She’s one of my favorite authors. I own all this series J YAY! I think I read that a Merry book will be next for Laurell but don’t quote me on that. For more information check her website http://www.laurellkhamilton.org/ and you can follow her on twitter @LKHamilton.
Maureen is a new discovery for me and I’m loving her! Devilish is a sharp read and I enjoyed it immensely. Check out her most recent title THE NAME OF THE STAR, follow her on twitter @maureenjohnson and for more info see her website. http://www.maureenjohnsonbooks.com/index1.html
